Humans have been called the animals which make things, and at no time in history has that been so apparent as the present.  Today, every human activity is dependent upon various tools, machines, and systems, from growing food and providing shelter to communication, healthcare, and entertainment.  Some machines, like the tractor, speed up and make more efficient activities that humans have done for hundreds or thousands of years.  Others, such as the airplane or the Internet, make possible things that humans have never been able to do before.  This collection of devices, capabilities, and the knowledge that accompanies them is called technology.

Missions

Missions bring content-rich science to the elementary grades. Missions are an engaging experience for student teams, offering hands-on science curriculum while emphasizing age-appropriate skills like reading and teamwork. In addition to its strong science content, Missions help students reach educational goals by integrating math, technology, language arts, and career-related content throughout the curriculum. As a result, Missions not only engage students through their hands-on activities, they meet the stringent core content requirements at national, state, and local levels.

Modules

Modules were introduced in 1989 to revolutionize the way students are taught in Grades 7-9. Synergistic Modules are the original, most successful modular education program, with more than 4,000 labs in schools across the U.S. Modules encourage and enable systemic change, helping students become responsible for their own learning. The labs focus on a variety of core curriculum topics, including science, technology, engineering, and math. Engaging students through a multimedia curriculum and hands-on activities, Modules are a proven method for effectively delivering core content knowledge
